Please click on the Island stories that you would like to read or hear. I will continue to add more stories as they happen (or I find them!).
Just a little note that I do not add criminal stories involving addiction, especially if names are listed. I feel the families of Islanders who are addicted have been through enough already without having a story listed here permanently.

It Takes a Village to Stop Drug Addiction -- And We Are That Village
This is an excellent chronicle of the significant mental health and addictions issues facing Islanders. At a time when the public is crying for help and our government seems to be floundering, how do they defend the decision not to invest in the federal Addictions Research Centre in Montague? The Centre was de-funded in June 2012, and significant expertise in assessment, program development and basic research has been stripped away from PEI. The Centre will officially close in March, 2014. There is still time to act; however much time and resources have already been lost. If the Government of PEI wants to show commitment to mental health and addictions they would invest in the world-class facility and the professionals who have dedicated their lives to improving the treatment options for our loved ones suffering with addictions.
